The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation Inc. can be designated as a beneficiary in your will. Since the gift is deferred, there is no immediate income tax benefits associated with a bequest; however, this type of gift is eligible for a tax receipt which may be applied to up to 100% of the income (including all assets that are deemed disposed) stated on your final return. The receipt may also be carried back and claimed in the year previous to death.

Read more about this in our booklet on giving.

A legacy gift can be created from your estate through a gift of cash, stocks and securities, an annuity, a trust, or a life insurance policy. It is important to remember that such vehicles for giving, as well as the associated tax benefits, can change from time to time. Thus, we encourage you to share this brochure with your legal and financial advisors to garner their professional advice about what would be best suited to the needs of you and your loved ones, before deciding upon your course of action.
