Our Commitment to Nurturing Future Leaders
Empowering Through Faith and Education
Join us in our mission to inspire and educate through our four foundational pillars, shaping a brighter future for our community.

Our Mission and Vision
The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation is devoted to enhancing educational opportunities through our four pillars: Excellence in Education, Service & Compassion, Faith Formation, and General. Our mission is to provide ongoing funding and support for initiatives leading to educational excellence, spiritual growth, and enhanced learning opportunities for the students and staff of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
Our Four Pillars
Educational Excellence
All Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools within our division aspire to excellence in learning. An example of that commitment can be found at the Health & Sciences Academy (HSA) at Bishop James Mahoney High School. The Health & Sciences Academy is designed for students who love science or are interested in hands-on learning, critical thinking, creativity and communication.
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools continues to look for more partners to help support their commitment to excellence.
Service & Compassion
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is committed to creating school environments where all students are supported to learn and reach their full potential. However, for many students, poverty and food insecurity have an immediate impact on their ability to learn and stay in school.
The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools’ Nutrition Program touches the lives of over 1,200 students who access the program daily. This essential program is unfunded by provincial grants and is a significant cost to the school division.
There is an ongoing need to continue to fund the Nutrition Program in our schools.
Through the Nutrition Program in our schools, we are reaching out and making a difference in the lives of our students so they can go out and transform the world.
Faith Formation
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools has significant expenses to support the faith formation of its 22,000 students. Priests and lay chaplains, religious education coordinators, sacred space in each of our schools, rosary clubs, and the staff and student retreats are examples of these unfunded expenses.
Thanks to the past generosity of Catholic school supporters, the Foundation was able to provide financial support to fully furnish the sacred space in each of the six new schools opened in 2017.
Supporting faith formation in our schools will ensure we remain faithful to our mission without compromising classroom resources.
Grade 12 student Melissa spelled out the value of Catholic faith-based education recently:
“I found that I benefited from going to a Catholic school because of the opportunity you have to attend school masses. BJM High School introduced St. Anne’s Parish to me in Grade 9 at our first school mass. I learned a lot from the mass and soon started attending regular masses there with my family. This led me to begin volunteering at the children’s liturgy, which I’ve really enjoyed doing these past years.”
General Fund
Our General Fund is the backbone of our charity, ensuring we can continue to make a positive impact every day. Donations to this fund help cover essential operating costs, including staff salaries, office expenses, program costs, marketing and fundraising efforts, technology and infrastructure, compliance and legal fees, and training and development. By contributing to our General Fund, you are directly supporting the vital work we do and enabling us to carry out our mission. Your generosity allows us to maintain our operations and expand our services, making a lasting difference in the students and staff of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
Voices of Impact
Our afternoon snack program has dramatically shifted the energy in the building throughout the day. The students are more settled and able to learn when they have full bellies. The donations from the broader community impact our students everyday!’
Steven Cole, Principal
‘Our students are able to skate on our school rink everyday because of the generosity of people. Helmets, sticks, skates and a walking path to the warm-up shed have all been donated to our school to make this possible.’
Steven Cole, Principal
Our family pantry provides food for families in crisis. It helps families in our school community with a little lift, a bit extra, a gift of something more. It adds to fridges and cupboards. Food nurtures, it comforts, it is a necessity. Our STJ Family Pantry exists because of the generosity of others.
